I'm back!

I'm BACK!
I did the local 30 minute time trial in a very careful 37 minutes one day last week but I think I'll finally get my wheels back under me soon. That wreck damaged more than my wrist.

I just found out that numerous comments were sent to a new "moderate" page for my review. Now that I've found them I'll be checking that page more often. Blogger.com has been a mess lately after being taken over by Google.

I've not been active on this page because I haven't been able to ride for quite a while and so haven't had much to add. After that wreck my left wrist was possibly broken and definatly badly sprained but I despise those vultures at the hospital and never went in to find out. They really can't do much for that kind of damage anyway except stick it in a nasty cast and make rehab take ten times longer. I have almost regained 100% of the movement now but I still get the occasional twinge if I apply pressure in the right place(ie: pushups). My hand was quite bruised as well and has taken just as long to heal. After the initial road rash healed my wisdom teeth were still being a major bother with ringing ears and stuff so in January I finally had them taken out along with one that was broken by the impaction. That set me back another 6 weeks because my head hurt if I even rode the trainer. The weather was also a factor and so one thing led to another and it's into May and I have about 20 miles on road and almost nothing off road. I did get about 50 miles of hiking in and even tried to run some but the knees just don't like that much. I also used the downtime to rebuild the FSR and gave her new pivot bearings I got from Boca Bearing co. in florida. They have a new search engine for cyclists to post their bikes bearing stats for others to use.
Thanks to some prodding By Ron And Scott and others, I have started a new hardtail project. It's based on a jamis alu frame I snagged for 140$! it's about 4lbs since it's a large but had very nice lines and the bent stays, similar to my old super sport Schwinn which should soften the ride some while still having the snap needed for racing. I'm still shopping for a fork for it so if anyone has a lightweight lockout 80mm fork to sell cheap post a coment or email me. I'm also thinking about snagging that wheelset from Jerry's bike to save money.

Jerry has stopped riding to concentrate on varsity stuff, He's medalled in several track meets this year but hopes to go to state in the fall xc events. He's worried about injuries from the other sports causing failures at the meets and believes that specialized training is needed for be competitive in the events he's doing. Right now he's doing 400m and 800m but is about to switch back to the mile since he placed in a 5k run recently down at Wake forest on an invite. He also has turned in sub 5 minute times at the PCHS track which isn't really a great mile surface IMO. He's considering dropping back to sport since expert pretty much requires a sponsor these days. Any comments on that move would help him decide as well.

I'm going to be making a blog that better shows our outdoor activities since I've been doing alot of hiking and hunting and other wilderness stuff lately and Jerry has been doing track meets and school stuff. More on that as I get time.

I'll post a few pics as soon as I figure out how...oh there it is :P
